PRACTICE
My practice is dedicated to the embodied engagement of traditional Asian performance. Learning from and working with several master artists from Bali, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and Oceania, I have been practicing in various art forms from the Asia-Pacific region for the past 10 years.
To this day, I continue my practice by conducting master workshops in various Asian theatre forms—such as Chinese jingju, Japanese kyogen and kabuki, and Thai dance—and intercultural theatre-making in/for the west. I also take upon classes, workshops, and fellowships from international and domestic master instructors to learn more about other Asian-Pacific art forms and to hone in on other performance practices.
Respect is a critical component to all Asian-Pacific practices. With that in mind, I have received the blessings from my instructing practitioners to teach other students the traditional arts of the Asia-Pacific region, respectively. I am forever indebted to all elders, ancestors, and educators that have come before me.
